NSW: Police search for driver of hit and run car
SYDNEY, Aug 25 AAP - Police are searching for the driver of a car involved in a single
vehicle smash which left a man dead.
A Holden Monaro left the road and collided with a power poll on Catherine Field Road,
Catherine Field in Sydney's southwest about 1am (AEST) on Tuesday, police said.
Residents were woken by the impact which caused the car's engine to separate from the
vehicle and debris to be strewn over about 80 metres.
Police said the body of an unidentified man was found in the car wreckage.
Camden police used Polair and the Dog Squad to search the rural area but the man could
not be found.
Police said they were concerned for the driver's welfare as he has probably suffered
injuries which require medical treatment.
They have asked staff at hospitals and medical centres in the area to be on the lookout.
Anyone with any information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Catherine Field Road remains closed while investigators examine the crash site and
motorists are urged to avoid the area.
