VIC: Grave fears for abducted child
Police are searching dams and waterways in the Echuca area of northern Victoria for a
missing toddler, and hold grave fears for his safety.
Police allege 15-month-old JAMES DEAN SETTE (pron: Setty) was taken by his natural mother
JULIE JANE SETTE, 31, from a park in the central Victorian town of Daylesford on Sunday.
Police say the boy was taken a few days before he was to be adopted by a couple.
Homocide detectives were called in on Monday when police found Ms SETTE at a hotel at
Moama, near Echuca on the Victoria-New South Wales border, and the boy was missing.
Ms SETTE went before Echuca Magistrates Court yesterday charged with falsely imprisoning
the child.
She was remanded in custody to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court next Wednesday.
Police are asking anyone who saw a woman and child in a white two-door car between late on
Sunday afternoon and Monday evening between Daylesford and Moama to contact them.
The mother has a slight build with long dark straight hair, an olive complexion and she
wore blue jeans and a black windcheater with a red and white motif.
The registration number of the Suzuki-Vitara car was FNT 811.
Her son is believed to have been wearing a red peaked cap, purple windcheater, jeans and
blue sports shoes.
