NSW;Gov't must reveal why top police public servant sacked- Tink

SYDNEY, Feb 13 AAP - The NSW Opposition today demanded Police Minister Michael Costareveal why the police force's most senior bureaucrat was sacked.

Edd Chadbourne, the executive director of human resources for the past two years, saidhe was dumped from the service without notice in a letter handed to him by the deputycommissioner yesterday.

Today he said his sacking was linked to a deterioration in his relationship with PoliceCommissioner Peter Ryan after he gave evidence to the state's Police Integrity Commission(PIC).

"Mr Chadbourne has made certain allegations and I think in light of those allegationsit's even more important that the government give reasons as to why Mr Chadbourne hasbeen sacked," Opposition police spokesman Andrew Tink told AAP.

"Does Mr Costa know why Mr Chadbourne was sacked?

"If he doesn't know, why doesn't he know and when is he going to find out?

"And if he does know, I believe that it is very important for the public to be given reasons."

Mr Tink said that as police minister, Mr Costa was in charge of both civilian and swornmembers of the police force, and should therefore know why Dr Chadbourne was sacked.

One of Mr Ryan's senior media advisers, Elizabeth Blieschke, was also given her marchingorders yesterday.

"There are two very senior civilians who have been shown to the door in the last 24hours from police service employ," Mr Tink said.

"The police minister should explain why."
