SA: Youth arrested after grass fire

ADELAIDE, Feb 19 AAP - Police have arrested a 17-year old youth in connection with
a grass fire at Hillbank, in Adelaide's northern suburbs last night.

Twenty-one Country Fire Service crews, as well as other emergency services including
the Rescue One helicopter, were called to the blaze, which broke out shortly before 9.30pm,
a CFS spokesman said.

At the height of the fire, which measured about 1.5km long and 1km wide, crews worked
to prevent the fire from reaching nearby houses, he said.

The fire took one hour and 20 minutes to contain and burnt about 100 hectares of grassland.

CFS appliances remained at the scene last night.

Meanwhile, a fire at Corny Point, on South Australia's Yorke Peninsula, has burnt 125
hectares of scrub and grassland.

The fire was reported just after 5pm yesterday after a burn off got out of control,
the spokesman said.

CFS crews took two-and-a-half hours to control the fire and mopping up continued for
another two to three hours.

The area was monitored overnight and rechecked for any hot spots this morning.
